Women of the Bible: Shiphrah and Puah Where does your loyalty lie?

Merriam Webster defines Loyalty as: having or showing complete and constant support for someone or something (insert citation about Merriam Webster dictionary). Loyalty is not something that is necessarily easy. We’ve all heard of the girl code and have been ingrained to stand for your friends. But what happens when that loyalty could threaten not only your comfortable situation but your life? Being loyal to your friend is one thing but what about staying true to your faith? Thankfully we live in the United States where your loyalty to your faith is not grounds for death. In many parts of the world though people are not as lucky. Looking at the tragedies in the Middle East surrounding the ISIS rebels I am thankful that I do not have to live with the threat of death because my loyalties lie with Christ. Two women in the Bible that are often overlooked found themselves faced with this situation: to choose what was safe or choose what was right. While they are not Biblically famous they helped shape the world through their courage and obedience to whom they are loyal. How much of an impact can your obedience now have in the long run? Often we don’t realize that our small acts of obedience now opens us up for glorious works of God later.
