What does G2:20 mean

So at our staff meeting Friday night we were asked what G2:20 the ministry we all work with means to us and what do we do to contribute to that ministry. It was not until a few days later after thinking about those few simple questions that I really started to think:  What does G2:20 mean to me. And not just the ministry and the kids that it comes with but the cornerstone of the ministry which is the verse. (The worse part is that we as a staff haven’t even made the commitment to memorize this verse)

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Now what does this mean and not just verbiage wise but how does this verse, this truth affect my life on a daily basis?

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”

I have made the decision to follow Christ whole heatedly which means that I die to my human nature which can be painful but I get the ultimate gift of Christ Jesus living inside me. With that commitment the life of sin that I lived in dies with that nature. The choices I vow to make should be pleasing to the spiritual nature that now lives inside of me.

“The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

My life from now on is dedicated to God. My faith guides my actions and my mind. Everything that I do or say is a direct reflection on the one who bought me out of my sinful bondage. I chose to live in accordance to that faith.
