Pastor Steven Furtick did a sermon called “Stuck in a Bubble” and he goes into demonstration that would be a good description of not only growth of a church but a business. (http://elevationchurch.org/sermons/surround )
The three points were Comfort, Certainty, and Calculation
Comfort: We shouldn’t be comfort driven. Our Calling> our comfort
Certainty: The opposite of faith is not doubt it’s certainty. Faith is patience in mystery. When we doubt God can prove his ability but when we are certain in our abilities or the circumstances we won’t notice God’s movement
Calculation: If everything makes sense you won’t take drastic steps forward.
Mark 6:30-44: Have we been stuck in a bubble from God?
Bubbles represent the space between receiving and responding to God’s message
The five loaves and two fish were used to feed 5,000 men. They came from a source that they didn’t even count: a boy
Maybe our miracle will come from a source we did not expect
If we are stuck in one of those three bubbles how are we supposed to move forward? If we are comfortable we do not experience the pain and glory of change, if we are certain we never look for new ways to do things, if we are calculated than maybe we are not taking enough risks
Maybe God is not ignoring us? Maybe God is waiting for our response?
