Devotional from 12/16/13
Every once in a while I like to re-read my old devotional journals and see if something stuck out so well this one was one I really liked 🙂 Even in our darkest time we still have an advocate that has the highest authority and can see the pain we are in. Our worst day with God will still be better than our best day without him. Many people that have accepted Christ as their Savior are still not enjoying their new life and freedom. They haven’t accessed their new hope and faith in Christ. (From Hearing From God Each Morning: Joyce Meyer)
Daily Scripture: John 14:16
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to help you and be with you forever.” (NIV)
I’ve been reading “Kingdom Woman” by Tony Evans and Chrystal Evans Hurst and the portion that I read today seemed to fit in with the devotional about not being alone in life. I think that in order to live a fulfilling and audacious life for Christ we need to have faith. Faith is a funny thing for some people. You can have a small amount or a large amount and yet that doesn’t change what you do with it. Someone with a small amount of faith that is willing to dream big and commit wholeheartedly is going to be more impactful then someone with a large amount of faith and yet apathetic to actually implementing their faith. Tony Evans says that “Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as: ‘being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.'” What are you sure of? What do you hope for from God? What are your hopes, dreams, and ambitions in general? You can find a lot out about yourself if you look at your priorities and how you act upon those priorities.
Key Things:
1. Faith is a decision that you make (you decide what you have faith in and whether you act on that faith)
2. Faith develops best in a community
3. Even a “mustard seed” worth of faith is enough
4. Even if your faith feels small let your dreams and actions be big
Our faith correlates to our reward
Luke 6:38- “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
*The more faith you give to Jesus the more you will see the reward and his presence in your life*
